This project was an adaptation of the play by Oscar Wilde “The selfish Giant” as a musical theatre performance by pupils. The programme was conceived and planned in partnership with Paidiko Ergastiri (an educational institution focusing on students with multiple learning difficulties and special needs). I was commissioned to create a piece in collaboration with their pupils. I worked with the educators, child psychologists and speech therapists along with the pupils. Body percussion, use of everyday objects and singing were involved in the creation of music for the play and then a series of joint rehearsals with the students of the Centre for Music Research and Education took place.

The main goal was to encourage and promote cohesion between communities with and without Special Educational Needs. The result of this project was a final performance that took place at the 3d Primary School of P. Phaliro with the collaboration of the School’s teachers, the Municipality and the local education authority. In that way I established a link between various sections of the private educational sector, the state school, the local authorities, the pupils and their parents.
